Drug-Free Workplace
The County of Sonoma is a Drug-free Workplace.
Civil Service Rule 10 (A) (10), covering Disciplinary Action, and Personnel Policies of Sonoma County Water Agency, Sonoma County Fair & Exposition, Inc., and Community Development Commission prohibit the use or possession of drugs or alcohol while on the job or reporting to work while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The County’s Reasonable Suspicion Policy reinforces Civil Service Rule 10 (A) (10), and the aforementioned personnel policies by providing supervisors and managers with the authority to take appropriate action if they believe that an employee is under the influence of drugs or alcohol on the job.
Should any County employee be struggling with substance abuse they are encouraged to use the County’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) which provides free, confidential counseling and other life services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to all County of Sonoma employees and their family members.
