Shelter Plus Care
The Sonoma County Housing Authority has two Special Needs Assistance program grants which provide tenant based rental assistance in partnership with Face to Face of Sonoma County and Social Advocates for Youth. The programs serve unhoused persons living with HIV/AIDS and unhoused youth with disabilities.
The SCHA first received these grants 1997. Through the years, this funding has proven to be successful in assisting unhoused persons with disabilities in obtaining affordable housing utilizing rental assistance. The SCHA provides rental assistance and the social services partners provide supportive services. These programs were built on the premise that housing and services need to be connected in order to ensure the stability of housing for this population.
All referrals for these programs are taken directly from the Sonoma County Coordinated Entry System.
