Published: January 31, 2020
On January 13, 2020 Deputy Probation Officer III, Laura Consiglio, was honored as a State Awardee by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) for her consistent and significant support to the CDSS in its development of best practice guidance for serving exploited youth.
In particular, she has been a crucial member of the Harm Reduction Guidance Series workgroup, offering victim-centered policy suggestions.
January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, which aims to increase awareness of the prevalence of human trafficking and recognizes the endured victimization and its traumatic impact on youth, families and communities. In support of awareness efforts, CDSS’ Child Trafficking Response Unit and Refugee Programs Bureau hosted its first Human Trafficking Awareness Month Awards Ceremony to recognize individuals across California who have taken critical steps to address and combat human trafficking.
We congratulate Laura on being a part of the inaugural class of award recipients and also thank her for her ongoing work on Sonoma County’s Human Trafficking Task Force
