County of Sonoma ranked fifth in nation in Digital Counties Survey
SANTA ROSA, CA | July 10, 2025
The Sonoma County Information Systems Department was ranked fifth among counties of its size by the Center for Digital Government, a national research and advisory institute focused on technology policy in local government.
In the organization’s annual Digital Counties Survey, which examines the overall technology programs and plans of counties nationwide, Sonoma County ranked in the top five in the 250,000 to 499,999 population category.
“This recognition reflects the dedication of our team to serve the public with modern, secure and accessible technology,” said Dan Fruchey, director of the Sonoma County Information Systems Department. “Year after year, we’ve demonstrated that even in times of change, our commitment to innovation and service never wavers.”
In the past year, the Information Systems Department has been focused on advancing initiatives, including implementing a Board-approved artificial intelligence policy, completing the OnePlan Enterprise Project and Portfolio Management platform, revising multiple records retention schedules, and adopting digital workflows to increase efficiency and improve service responsiveness.
The award will be presented during the National Association of Counties 2025 annual conference in Philadelphia.
