Probation Staff Raised Money to Support Local Breast Cancer Patients
Today, we had the privilege if presenting a donation of $740.00 to Executive Director Kent Corley, from North Bay Cancer Alliance following our Sonoma County Probation Pink Patch fundraiser in October. These funds will go towards NBCA mission of providing critical financial support to breast cancer patients and their families. Cancer patients receive help with transportation costs, lodging, co-pays, grocery cards, or any other essential needs. Read full story
Probation staff participated in the Trunk-or-Treat Event on Monday, October 21, 2024
Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated Trunk-or-Treat with us this year! More than 500 cars and 1,500 trick-or-treaters turned out for this fun drive-thru experience. Probation staff dressed as “Mario Kart” characters who were adored by the community while they enjoyed a safe place to Trick-or-Treat from the trunks of vehicles. Even the Supervised Work Crew dump truck was transformed into the Piranha Plant which the kids loved. Read full story
CAPIA Bay Region Supervisor of the Year 2023
Juvenile Hall Supervisor Chai Walin has been recognized by the California Association of Probation Institutions Administrators (CAPIA) as the 2023 Bay Region Supervisor of the Year. Chai has been an outstanding Juvenile Hall facility supervisor for over 10 years. Read full story
Sonoma County Probation Supports Special Olympics!
Probation staff recently attended the Special Olympics Unified Track and Field Meet at Windsor High School where they supported and cheered on the student athletes during their events. The celebrations continued after the meet when athletes went through a tunnel of local law enforcement personnel for congratulations and high fives! Division Director, Melissa Segura and Probation Industries Crew Supervisor, Victor Gonzales from the Sonoma County Probation Department participated in the Sonoma County Polar Plunge on April 1, 2023 to raise money for our local Special Olympics athletes. Read full story
Probation Staff Recently Participated in Two Community Events
Members of the Sonoma County Probation Department recently participated in two community events. The Sonoma State University Spring Career Fest on March 10, 2023 was a wonderful opportunity for staff to connect with local college students and share all of the exciting career paths offered throughout our department. Sonoma County Deputy Probation Officer III Larry Younger Receives Statewide Recognition from the Chief Probation Officers of California for CPOC Award of Excellence
On December 8, 2022, Sonoma Deputy Probation Officer III Larry Younger was recognized at the statewide 2022 Annual Chief Probation Officers of California Awards Ceremony in Sacramento as the CPOC Award of Excellence recipient. This award is given to an employee of any rank selected by the CPOC affiliate for meritorious service, significant contributions, career achievement among other reasons warranting recognition. Pilot Welding Program Offers Opportunity for Youth in Sonoma County Juvenile Hall
The Sonoma County Probation Department’s Juvenile Hall pilot Welding Program for youth in the Secure Youth Treatment Facility (SYTF) is off to a great start! The inaugural program was offered to two youth in Juvenile Hall who had to apply for acceptance into the program. Read full story
