The history and summary of cannabis related regulation and ordinances for each major city in Sonoma County is listed below:

Cloverdale

On July 24, 2019 the Cloverdale City Council Adopted Ordinance No. 730-2020, an Ordinance of the City of Cloverdale Amending Title 18, "Zoning," of the Cloverdale Municipal Code, Adding Chapter 18.15, "Cannabis," to allow and regulate commercial cannabis uses and regulating the personal cultivation of medical and nonmedical cannabis. Cotati

Cotati's ordinance allows a variety of commercial uses with number and size limitations. The ordinance has been codified as Sections 17.42.200 and 17.42.210 of the City's Municipal Code. For more information, visit the Legalized Cannabis in Cotati website.

Healdsburg

The City of Healdsburg currently prohibits all commercial cannabis uses in the community. As required by Proposition 64, the City permits medical and nonmedical cannabis use and cultivation by individuals subject to specific requirements as outlined in Section 20.20.100 of the Healdsburg Municipal Code (HMC). For more information visit, the City of Healdsburg Cannabis Information website

Petaluma

Rohnert Park

Currently, Commercial cannabis facilities are prohibited in all zones and districts in the city. Personal  cannabis cultivation of no more than six living cannabis plants is currently allowed. Santa Rosa

On December 19, 2017, the City Council unanimously adopted the City’s Comprehensive Cannabis Ordinance. The regulations address the locational and operational requirements for personal cannabis cultivation and commercial cannabis businesses, including covering allowances for medical and adult use. Sebastopol

Sonoma

Windsor

In 2017, the Town of Windsor amended the Town of Windsor Zoning Ordinance to establish standards regulating marijuana cultivation and use for nonmedical purposes and to prohibit the establishment of marijuana businesses.
