Flex Alert Issued Friday, Sept. 9

This week's heat has been challenging and our patience and promptness with energy conversation has made a difference and been appreciated.

Another Flex Alert is in effect today from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m., and power grid officials are asking all of us to continue conserving energy to protect public health and safety.

That means turning off or reducing non-essential power, if health allows, to avoid power interruptions.

Energy conservation tips include:

  • Set thermostat at 78 degrees or higher and turn off, if away
  • Cool with fans and draw drapes
  • Turn off unnecessary lights
  • Avoid using major appliances and charging electric vehicles

Drought & Wildfire Preparedness Tips

September is also National Preparedness Month, which means raising awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time.

Do you and your family have an emergency supply kit?

Put together an emergency supply kit before a disaster or emergency occurs and have it easily accessible so you can take it with you when you must evacuate.

FIRE PREVENTION TIP: Approximately 95 percent of all wildfires in California are caused by human activity. Do your part to prevent wildfires.

Whether it’s ensuring a campfire is completely extinguished, a grill is away from dry vegetation, or keeping a vehicle or lawn mower well maintained to prevent sparks, following just a few simple steps can help prevent wildfires.
