Flex Alert Issued Friday, Sept. 9
This week's heat has been challenging and our patience and promptness with energy conversation has made a difference and been appreciated.
Another Flex Alert is in effect today from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m., and power grid officials are asking all of us to continue conserving energy to protect public health and safety.
That means turning off or reducing non-essential power, if health allows, to avoid power interruptions.
Energy conservation tips include:
- Set thermostat at 78 degrees or higher and turn off, if away
- Cool with fans and draw drapes
- Turn off unnecessary lights
- Avoid using major appliances and charging electric vehicles

September is also National Preparedness Month, which means raising awareness about the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time.

Pathway to Income Equity, Sonoma County’s guaranteed basic income pilot program, is now accepting applications. The program will award 305 qualifying Sonoma County residents, selected at random, $500 a month for two years.
