Housing Choice Voucher lottery opens October 1

The Sonoma County Housing Authority will be opening its Housing Choice Voucher waitlist lottery October 1-31. The Housing Choice Voucher program, formerly known as the Section 8 program, provides financial assistance to very low-income individuals and families to enable them to afford housing in the private rental housing market.

Nationwide alert exercise happens October 4

Sonoma County is seeking volunteers to participate and provide feedback on the nationwide wireless emergency alert exercise on Wednesday, October 4 at approximately 11:20 -11:50 a.m.

The test alert will attempt to reach every cell phone in the county. Feedback on the exercise is encouraged and may be submitted by contacting (707) 565-1369 or at:

Your feedback will provide local first responders, emergency management organizations and partner agencies with valuable information to better serve you, your neighborhood and the community.
