Free electronics recycling event this weekend
Zero Waste Sonoma and Conservation Corps North Bay invite the public to a free electronics recycling event this Saturday and Sunday, January 20-21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Oakmont Community Center, 6637 Oakmont Drive, Santa Rosa. No appointment is necessary.
Accepted items include cell phones, tablets, computers, laptops, printers, stereos, TVs, video game consoles and more. Appliances, batteries, lamps and lightbulbs will not be accepted.

Winter weather safety reminder: Rain forecast over next five days
The National Weather Service predicts up to 6” of rain over the next five days. As new storms bring more rain, please be prepared for possible localized flooding, winds and potential power outages.
Additional preparation and safety tips:
- Clean out rain gutters and nearby storm drains.
- As rain accumulates, remember to slow down and prepare for longer commute times.
- Never drive through flooded roadways — TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN!
- Ensure your headlights are turned on for visibility.
- Stay informed about the latest weather forecasts.

Please note, the following county regional parks have shut down in preparation for potential localized flooding:
- Forestville River Access
- Steelhead Beach Regional Park
- Gualala Point Regional Park campground (the rest of the park is still accessible)

Community webinar on homelessness happens January 31
The County of Sonoma Department of Health Services is hosting an online public forum on local homelessness on Wednesday, January 31, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The forum will begin with a discussion on how to get help for homelessness, followed by an open Q&A session. Kaitlin Carney with HomeFirst and Thai Hilton with the Sonoma County Department of Health Services Ending Homelessness Team will facilitate the event.
This public forum is an opportunity to ask questions and to learn more about getting help for homelessness in Sonoma County.
