Weekly Roundup for April 8, 2022

Published: April 08, 2022

The California Department of Public Health this week released new guidelines for event planners as many of the requirements and recommendations from the height of the COVID-19 surge are no longer needed. The updated guidelines include recommendations for indoor, outdoor, mega and school events.

In general, operators should remember that outdoors is lower risk and indoor gatherings are higher risk. If food is being served, consider serving outdoors. Events where attendees are vaccinated or tested negative for COVID-19 prior to entry are always safest. Events that have persons whose vaccine or testing status is unknown are a higher risk.

Full event guidelines are available here:

Sonoma County’s path forward in creating healthier and safer neighborhoods and communities depends on our collective and informed actions, including a second booster shot if you are age 50 or older, or immunocompromised. The Food and Drug Administration and the CDC recently authorized a second COVID-19 booster of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

The county-supported vaccine clinics at the Roseland Community Center and the Rohnert Park Community Center are accepting walk-ups for vaccination, including boosters. They are both open Tuesday through Saturday starting at 9 a.m. The Roseland clinic closes at 4 p.m. and the Rohnert Park clinic closes at 6 p.m. Boosters are also available through health care providers and pharmacies.

Schedule second booster shots through the MyTurn.ca.gov:
