Sonoma County Shake Out happens Tuesday, April 18

Mark your calendar for April 18 at 10 a.m. to Drop, Cover and Hold On wherever you are, to prepare for the next earthquake.

The Shake Out is an opportunity for Sonoma County to practice Drop, Cover, Hold On, which is the recommended action to stay safe when the earth shakes.

In addition, on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., join the Fire and Earthquake Safety Expo at Healdsburg Community Center, 1557 Healdsburg Ave. in Healdsburg.

• Free giveaways, including lunch while supplies last
• Activities for all ages
• Preparedness workshops

Sonoma County Sheriff, Permit Sonoma opportunities for public input

The Sonoma County Sheriff wants to hear from the community. They recently announced a two-minute survey that closes at the end of the day on Monday, April 24.

The survey is anonymous, and the results will not be released publicly. This is not a scientific poll, though it should provide a general sense of how residents feel about the services provided by the Sheriff’s Office. The survey results will be used by the Sheriff and his executive team for strategic planning.

In addition, Permit Sonoma is updating its General Plan Safety Element and would like to know how climate change is affecting residents and homeowners.

Survey results will help the county be better prepared for climate hazards through updated policies and strategies that reduce the potential short- and long-term climate risks.

Free online home energy workshops continue in April, May

The County of Sonoma, Climate Action and Resiliency Division is pleased to announce the latest homeowner workshops in an on-going series for those interested in learning more about the benefits of making improvements that will help make your home more energy efficient and resilient. 

The online workshops cover a range of topics including evaluating energy use, wildfire safety improvements, funding your projects, solar photovoltaics and battery storage, and innovative water reuse.
