Sonoma County Supervisors to consider Local Coastal Plan during July 17 Special Meeting

The public is invited to share feedback on the proposed Local Coastal Plan on Monday, July 17 at 9 a.m. during a special meeting of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.

The California Coastal Act requires local governments in the coastal zone to have a Local Coastal Program, which regulates land use and protects coastal resources. In Sonoma County, the Local Coastal Program consists of three components: Local Coastal Plan, Coastal Zoning Ordinance and Coastal Administrative Manual.

Permit Sonoma began work to update the Sonoma County Local Coastal Plan in 2013. The project has involved extensive public outreach, research and publication of multiple drafts.

On July 17, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors will consider adopting a draft update of the Local Coastal Plan and will take public comment before holding a final vote. The California Coastal Commission must certify that an adopted Local Coastal Program complies with the Coastal Act.
