For Immediate Release
Sonoma County Housing Authority opens project-based voucher waitlists for units in Healdsburg and Petaluma
Santa Rosa, CA | May 11, 2022
The Sonoma County Housing Authority will accept housing voucher applications May 23 through July 1 for Project-Based Voucher waitlists. Applicants will be required to provide information regarding income and any preferences for which they may qualify.
Applications may be completed online at www.waitlistcheck.com/CA085 or with paper applications available by contacting the Housing Authority office at (707) 565-7501.
Applications will be open for the following locations:
- Fisher Senior 1 and Fisher 2 Apartments, Petaluma
- 575 and 579 Vallejo Street Senior Apartments, Petaluma
- Petaluma River Apartments, Petaluma
- Mill District Apartments, Healdsburg
Those interested in applying to any of the above-listed Project-Based Voucher waitlists must apply during this application period and indicate which list they are applying for on their application. The Housing Authority will limit each waitlist to no more than 300 applicants in an attempt to provide a more reasonable expectation of service. A separate application is required for each waitlist.
All apartments in Petaluma are one-bedroom units. Mill District Apartments in Healdsburg offer one, two and three-bedroom units. The three-bedroom unit waitlists adhere to the Housing Authority’s subsidy standards and reasonable accommodation policy, typically assigned to households of five to seven people.
Paper applications are due Friday, July 1, 2022, by 5 p.m. and must be submitted in person at the Housing Authority’s offices, or by 11:59 p.m. if submitted online. The Housing Authority will conduct a random lottery to determine applicant’s placement on each waitlist.
Disability-related accommodation to access any programs, services or activities provided by the Sonoma County Community Development Commission or the Sonoma County Housing Authority, can be arranged by calling (707) 565-7500/TDD or (707) 565-7555. Translation services will be made available upon request.
The Housing Authority will never collect fee-for-service or credit card numbers from applicants of Housing Choice Voucher or Project-Based Voucher waitlists. Exercise caution when sharing personal and credit card information online or over the phone as it is not uncommon for scammers to create fraudulent “Section 8 housing” websites.
To report a website that seems fraudulent, please file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and email the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development at Hotline@HUDOIG.gov.
The only legitimate website to apply to the Sonoma County Housing Authority Project-Based Voucher waitlists for Fisher 1 and Fisher 2 Senior, 575 and 579 Vallejo Street Senior, Petaluma River and Mill District Apartments is https://www.waitlistcheck.com/CA085
