For Immediate Release
Hauser Bridge Road Detours for Bridge Construction
Santa Rosa,CA | September 05, 2017
Over the next month, vehicles and bicyclists will be detoured around Hauser Bridge for a total of seven days. These detours will allow the steel for the new bridge to be delivered and set in place, using the existing bridge to stage the construction.
Through traffic, both vehicles and bicyclists, will be asked to detour at the intersections of Tin Barn Road and King Ridge Road, and at Kruse Ranch Road and Seaview Road, from 7 am through 8 pm on the following days:
- September 7, 8, 9
- September 11, 12, 13
- Saturday, September 23
Additional signage will be posted at the intersections of Timber Cove and Seaview Road recommending travelers use Timber Cove Road to Highway 1, and at Stewarts Point Road and Tin Barn Road recommending travelers use Stewarts Point Skaggs Springs Road to Highway 1.
“We appreciate the patience of neighbors, drivers and bicyclists during the time detours are in place for construction of the bridge,” shared Supervisor Lynda Hopkins. “These detours will allow for segments of the large steel truss, which will support the bridge, to be set in place.”
The new bridge will be an asymmetrical steel arch structure, designed to fit the unique topography of the river banks. The existing bridge was built in 1947, and suffers from corrosion and foundation issues. The new bridge will enhance safety and is 100% federally funded.
Granite Construction is the general contractor constructing the bridge, while Caltrop (now TRC) is providing Construction Management services. For more information, and a conceptual video of how the bridge will be replaced.
