Sonoma County announces four weekend COVID-19 vaccine clinics at Sonoma County Fairgrounds

The County of Sonoma will expand access to pediatric and adult COVID-19 vaccines and boosters through a series of large-scale vaccine clinics at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds starting Saturday. Up to 500 vaccines can be administered per day at these clinics, which will be held in the Garrett Building on the Fairgrounds campus. Clinics will be held  Saturday and Sunday for each of the next four weekends, Jan. 29-30 and Feb. 5-6, 12-13, and 19-20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

“The omicron surge has demonstrated that COVID-19 is difficult to predict,” said Dr. Sundari Mase, Sonoma County’s public health officer. “We need to protect ourselves as much as possible to keep our schools open and hospital beds available. To do so, it is critical that we get kids ages 5 to 11 vaccinated and everyone over 12 years of age boosted.” 

The eight clinics over the next four weekends are open to everyone in the community, but particularly focused on children and those 12 years and older who still need their boosters. Currently, just 27 percent of children ages 5-11 are fully vaccinated. Additionally, only 58.6 percent of the eligible population is both fully vaccinated and boosted.  

“The data on pediatric COVID-19 vaccines continues to show high efficacy and our nation’s top scientists have determined it is the safest option for everyone, including children,” said James Gore, chair of the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. “Vaccines remain the best way to protect ourselves, our loved ones and the community from COVID-19.” 

Though appointments are not needed, you can make one to guarantee a spot by signing up on myturn.ca.gov. As is true for all clinics throughout the county, vaccines are free, the clinics are open to all and proof of citizenship status is not required. 

The Garrett Building is on the east side of the Fairgrounds, accessible from the Brookwood Avenue entrance. Parking is across the street from the main entrance, in the main parking lot, Lot B. Parking will be available for those with mobility limitations in the handicap parking (or restricted parking) lot located directly outside the Brookwood main entrance. Support for those with mobility limitations will be available.
