About the TIF Program

Tourism Impact Fund (TIF) grants are part of Sonoma County’s Community Investment Fund. These grants are intended to help address tourism-related impacts and support community benefit projects in the First District.

Funding may be used for:

  • Safety improvements and traffic calming
  • Environmental impact mitigation
  • Public safety (including fire services)
  • Parking enforcement and management
  • Other projects that benefit the broader community, such as infrastructure or public space improvements

District 1 Goals

Supervisor Hermosillo’s priorities for District 1 include:

  • Supporting projects that serve local constituents, especially in unincorporated areas
  • Advancing equity and inclusion, ensuring resources reach underserved communities
  • Strengthening community resilience in areas like disaster preparedness, safety, and the environment
  • Promoting arts, culture, and community identity in Sonoma Valley
  • Enhancing youth, family, and senior services such as food access, recreation, and health

Funding Criteria

Projects are more competitive if they:

  • Clearly mitigate a tourism-related impact and/or provide a strong community benefit
  • Directly benefit First District residents
  • Address a significant local need or serve a broad number of people
  • Demonstrate collaboration with partners
  • Are feasible and ready to implement within the grant year
