Work with the chaos
Isn't it true that we know the chaos is coming and yet it still manages to rock our boats? The lines are long, dressing rooms are packed, parking is non-existent and yet we STILL go out against our good sense. Now that you've chosen the chaos, here are a few tips to get you through it.
Plan ahead
Get a good night's rest Not only will a good night's rest give you a strong start to a busy day, but not getting enough sleep for even just a week can lead you to gain weight.
Before you head out the door . . .
Eat breakfast. Even if you're hitting the stores at the crack of dawn, a simple cup of oatmeal before you go can give you enough fuel to keep your blood sugar levels from dropping.
Fill your water bottle. Hydration is essential for brain function (added bonus: it keeps you looking and feeling youthful). Make sure to drink a glass of water before you leave and keep hydrated throughout the day. A drink of water every fifteen minutes can keep you from getting fatigued, irritable, or suffering from dehydration.
Load up on snacks. Nuts, fruits and vegetables, or cheese sticks are easy to transport and to snack on when you're on the go. Keep some in your purse, glove compartment, recyclable shopping bags or even stash a few in your pockets.
One last thing. We know we aren't the only ones heading to the malls, so before you go out the door, put on your good walking shoes and grab a smile. Smiles on our faces go a long way. Our brains immediately release endorphins, which make us feel good. Smiling also decreases your stress level so when things get tough out there, you're likely to handle them better.
Kindness matters . . .
In the spirit of the season, be kind to yourself and to those around you. It's contagious.
