Sonoma County adopts automated permitting tool to lower the cost of installing solar
This week, Sonoma Countybecame the first county in California to launch SolarAPP+, an automated applicationfor permitting new residential rooftop solar and storage systems. <p>Groundwater SustainabilityPlans Public Hearings Scheduled </p><p> </p>
<span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">Sonoma County’s three groundwater sustainability agencies, Petaluma Valley, Sonoma Valley and Santa Rosa Plain, will hold public hearings to consider adoption of the Final Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) in early December.</span> Read full story
<p>Sewer Main Break nearVacation Beach in Guerneville; Customers Asked to Reduce Water Usage </p><p> </p>
<span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">A break in a sewer main was discovered at 3 p.m. today at the end of Orchard Avenue in Guerneville and crews from the Russian River County Sanitation District (RRCSD) are on the scene containing the leak and undertaking repair. All RRCSD customers are being asked to reduce their water usage as much as possible during this emergency. Reducing water use will reduce flows into the collection system and reduce wastewater discharges.</span> Read full story

Repairs will begin shortly ona ruptured sewer force main pipeline and will continue through the day. Heavyequipment, trucks and personnel will be on site. <p><b></b>Judge Sentences Tirso Guzman to 90 Years to Life in Serial Rape Case</p><p> </p>
<span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">District Attorney Jill Ravitch has announced that Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Shelly Averill sentenced Tirso Dejesus Guzman to the maximum prison term of 90 years to life for raping three women in 2019. On October 25, 2021 a jury found Guzman guilty of 11 counts of sexually assaulting the three women.</span> Read full story
<p><b><i></i></b>Man Sentenced to Ten Years Eight Months Prison for Beating Girlfriend</p><p> </p>
<span style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;">Defendant Sean Miller, 36 years-old of Rohnert Park, was sentenced November 24, 2021 by the Honorable Robert LaForge to ten years eight months in state prison after pleading no contest to charges of felony infliction of corporal injuries resulting in a traumatic condition on his girlfriend, dissuading a witness by force or threat, and resisting an executive officer. </span> Read full story
