November 15 community health update on respiratory viruses

Prescribed pile-burning operations planned at Cloverdale River Park
Sonoma County Regional Parks, in collaboration with Cloverdale Fire Protection District and CAL FIRE, is planning to conduct pile burns at Cloverdale River Park on November 10th. Woody material from the wildfires that occurred in the park this last summer were thinned and piled by Regional Parks’ staff over the last several months. The pile burn will begin on the morning of the 10th and continue throughout the day. Fire agencies will provide fire engines and crews to manage the burning process, and Regional Parks staff will work in collaboration with the fire agencies. Read full story
Sonoma County Board of Supervisors receives five-year fiscal forecast
Sonoma County is projecting a General Fund deficit of $13 million during the 2024-25 fiscal year with more annual deficits to follow through 2025, Deputy County Administrator Peter Bruland informed the Board of Supervisors as part of his five-year fiscal forecast Tuesday. The projection is based on an anticipated decrease in property tax growth, reductions in one-time funding, and an increase in pension costs due to investment declines in pension funds. Planning Commission votes to recommend plans for redevelopment of the Sonoma Developmental Center
The Sonoma County Planning Commission on Monday recommended plans to guide the redevelopment of the Sonoma Developmental Center. The Planning Commission voted 4 to 1 to recommend changes to the SDC Specific Plan. Read full story
FENTANYL AWARENESS OUTREACH CAMPAIGN BEGINS
District Attorney Jill Ravitch announced today that The Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office along with the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Program (“HIDTA”) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”), have begun a joint community outreach campaign to educate the community on the dangers of fentanyl. County of Sonoma seeks public feedback on newly published draft housing plan
The County of Sonoma’s planning and permitting department is seeking public feedback over the next 30 days on a draft update to the Housing Element of the Sonoma County General Plan. The update represents the county’s goals, objectives and policies that lead to the creation of adequate housing for people of all income levels in Sonoma County for the years 2023 through 2031. Sonoma County launches online application for Agricultural Access Verification Card Program for commercial operators
The Sonoma County Department of Agriculture / Weights & Measures today announced the launch of an online application in English and Spanish for the Sonoma County Agricultural Access Verification Card Program. The new program is designed to facilitate safe access to areas under evacuation orders so that agricultural operators can evacuate, transport, shelter, feed, water, and administer veterinary care to livestock; irrigate crops; fuel emergency generators or provide auxiliary support to emergency personnel. The Sonoma County Economic Development Board released the 2022 Third Quarter Sonoma County Job Market Tracker report. The report captures data on current job opportunities and desired skills from job postings in Sonoma County. The report also breaks down most in demand jobs and median salaries of job postings.
