Sonoma County hosts community meeting on Todd Creek flood insurance study

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has opened the 90-day public review period for the County-sponsored Todd Creek revised Flood Insurance Study, which includes maps to determine your flood risk severity and can impact flood insurance requirements. During this federal review window, members of the public can review FEMA’s preliminary mapping and submit technical appeals or comments. Read full story

Santa Rosa Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Rape and Assault

Defendant Devin Patrick Dwyer, 35 years old of Santa Rosa, was sentenced October 2nd by the Honorable Judge Kenneth Gnoss to serve nine years and four months, plus 30 years-to-life in state prison, after having been found guilty by a jury in April of this year on charges including rape and false imprisonment. The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Nov. 4 Statewide Special Election is Oct. 20, Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Evelyn Mendez reminded residents today. Eligible voters who miss this deadline still have the option to “conditionally” register (also known as “same-day registration”) and vote in person at the Registrar of Voters or at any Vote Center. Board of Supervisors, Fair Board to hold special Oct. 17 joint meeting to discuss United Soccer League proposal

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and the Sonoma County Fair and Exposition Board of Directors will hold a special joint meeting on Oct. 17 to discuss an expansion proposal from United Soccer League. The USL has expressed interest in expanding into Santa Rosa due to its growing population, strong local economy and high youth soccer participation rates.
