Road Maintenance Update 12-28-15
Published: December 28, 2015
The majority of road crews have been out every morning over the Christmas holiday and throughout weekend sanding roads for icy conditions. Crews are out again this morning, and based on this week’s weather forecast, which is calling for freezing conditions through Friday, crews will continue to be out in the early morning hours sanding roads. Please be aware of icy conditions and drive with caution on your morning commute.
A tree contractor, Bay Area Tree Specialists, will begin work today removing diseased and dying trees and safety trimming within the eucalyptus grove on Lakeville Road. This is annual work aimed at managing the grove for public safety. Work this week is scheduled for Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm daily. Programmable message boards are in place advising commuters of the project and delays – one lane traffic controls will be in place daily with long delays expected, so traffic is advised to use alternate routes when possible. The contract for this project calls for 20 working days, which this time of year is weather permitting.
The majority of road work this week will focus on pothole repair and roadside vegetation work. Cal Fire has been canceled this week for south county work; however, we will have a Cal Fire crew working along Riebli Road Tuesday and Wednesday this week. We have two Vactor trucks scheduled for culvert cleaning in both the South County and West County areas. The Bridge crew will be doing guard rail repairs this week; today's work is along Bennett Valley Road east of Santa Rosa city limits and includes one lane traffic controls. The Culvert crew will resume work on Graton Road west of Ross Road – repairing and replacing a storm drain system. Traffic crews will be out doing sign maintenance all week.
