Road Update - April 25, 2016
Published: April 25, 2016
Surprisingly, last night’s wind storm only caused issues at Chileno Valley Road between Western Avenue and the Marin County line, which was closed at 6:15 PM yesterday. A large down eucalyptus tree broke a power pole, dropped power lines onto the roadway, and damaged a second tree. Road crews responded along with PG&E and Davey Tree Service. Davey Tree Service handed the tree removal before PG&E was able to start work on replacing the power pole and lines. Our crews had the down tree removed from the roadway by midnight, however the road remains closed at this time, as PG&E is finishing up work.
On Friday afternoon, a vehicle accident damaged a section of guard rail along Bennett Valley Road at the bridge just east of Santa Rosa city limits. This morning, the Bridge crew will close one lane to replace that section of guard rail. One lane traffic controls with minor delays can be expected between 7:30 am and 4 pm. On Tuesday, work will resume along Summerhome Park Road near Madrona Road, replacing a section of failed bridge viaduct. The road will be narrowed to one lane during work hours with traffic controls in place. Expect delays between 7:30 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Thursday.
This week, a culvert replacement project will take place on Schaeffer Road, between Cunningham Road and Canfield Road. Expect one lane traffic controls between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm daily through Thursday.
Healdsburg road crews will continue work this week clearing slides and drainage issues along Porter Creek Road, between Calistoga Road and Mark West Springs Road. One lane traffic controls will be in place between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm daily through Thursday. Porter Creek Road is a heavy daily commute route, so traffic delays up to 15 minutes can be expected at times. Use alternate routes when possible.
Remaining road crews will be clearing roadside brush, mowing and pothole filling. Roadside mowing will continue along Occidental Road, Mill Station Road, Vine Hill Road and Graton Road early this week. CFD crews will be assisting with roadside brush cutting along Occidental Road on Tuesday and Wednesday. Traffic crews will be stenciling in the Sonoma area and doing sign maintenance throughout the county.
