For Immediate Release
Registrar of Voters announces Wednesday deadline to “cure” ballot signature issues from June primary
SANTA ROSA, CA | June 20, 2022
Sonoma County Registrar of Voters Deva Marie Proto is alerting Sonoma County voters who have been notified that their ballots in the June Primary Election were challenged due to missing or mismatched signatures that must complete and submit the appropriate signature “cure” forms to the Registrar of Voters Office by 5 p.m. on June 22.
Every election, ROV staff spend countless hours comparing each vote-by-mail ballot signature to the latest signature in the voter’s file. Voters whose ballot envelopes are missing a signature or have a signature that is deemed to not sufficiently compare are mailed signature “cure” forms which, if signed by the voter and received by the ROV Office in a timely fashion, allow the ballots to still be counted and included in the final official certified election results. Voters were mailed letters from the ROV Office as their ballots were received and signatures checked.
Voters with a missing or challenged signature who cannot find or have not received a signature “cure” form in the mail can download them at socovotes.com by selecting the “Forms” menu item on the left and then clicking on either “Unsigned Ballot Form” or “Ballot Signature Verification Form” under the “Voting by Mail” heading (see red boxes in screenshot below).
Once filled out and signed, there are several ways to return a signature “cure” form:
- Scan it and send it as an email attachment to ROV-UBS@Sonoma-County.org
- Fax it to (707) 565-6862
- Drop it off in person at the ROV Office at 435 Fiscal Drive, Santa Rosa
- By mail (if received by the deadline)
For more information, please visit the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters website at socovotes.com, call (707) 565-6800, email rov-info@sonoma-county.org, or visit the ROV Office in person at 435 Fiscal Drive, Santa Rosa. The office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays (excluding county holidays).
