The Sonoma County Environmental Health Section, Solid Waste Management Program, acting as the Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) is certified by the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to enforce state laws and regulations at solid waste sites within its jurisdiction. The Central Transfer/Processing Facility operates under a Solid Waste Facility Permit issued by the LEA. The operator has filed an application for a RFI amendment with the LEA. The RFI describes the design and operation of the facility.
As required by 27 CCR, Section 21660.1, the LEA is distributing this notice for the purpose of noticing its acceptance of the amendment to the RFI for Central Transfer/Processing Facility located at 500 Mecham Road. Petaluma, CA 94952.
Description of Project
The RFI amendment addresses the following changes:
- An updated Transfer/Processing Report (February 2024) to incorporate the following:
- New SB 1383 standards.
- Updates to reflect current operational conditions at the facility.
- Identification of ancillary scales and compost sales area.
- Addition of food waste processing equipment to an existing structure.
- Separation of waste materials including, food waste, carpet, padding and mattresses.
LEA’s Determination
An application for a RFI amendment was received by the LEA on February 29, 2024. Pursuant to 27 CCR, Section 21665(c), the LEA reviewed the application and determined that the proposed changes are consistent with all adopted CEQA documents, are consistent with State Minimum Standards and do not conflict with the terms and conditions of the current SWFP. The LEA approved the RFI amendment on March 11, 2024.
