Rio Nido Culverts Installation (C20012)
Sonoma Public Infrastructure's offices are now located at 400 Aviation Blvd, Suite 100, Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
Project Description
The 2019 winter storms in Sonoma County caused significant damage to homes and public infrastructure. The Rio Nido Culverts Installation project includes installation of a new storm drains down Bay Avenue and across Hay Lane in order to convey runoff away from the road surface to an existing concrete lined channel. The proposed project will significantly reduce damage to private property and the road preventing road closures for repairs and allowing residents west of the intersection of Bay Avenue and Willow Road to access their homes along with emergency personnel.
Project Update
As of September 2022: EBA Engineering was hired by TPW to prepare the plan for the new storm drains to be installed down Bay Avenue and across Willow Road to the existing concrete channel. To date, EBA Engineering completed the engineering report that serves as the Basis of Design for the plans and the topographic survey of the project site. TPW is coordinating with the water provider, Sweet Water Springs Water District to resolve a potential conflict between an existing waterline and the proposed storm drains. The existing waterline is therefore proposed to be relocated as part of this project and will be shown as such on the plan prepared by EBA Engineering. TPW is coordinating with Permit Sonoma (PRMD) on permits for the project and has obtained a waiver from the Regional Water Quality Control Board and fees are currently being processed for obtaining the permit from the CA Department of Fish & Wildlife. It is anticipated that the County will need drainage easements from some property owners to construct the project. Impacted property owners will be contacted by a representative of the County once surveys and mapping are completed. The plan is to have the bid package ready by the end of October and will keep you posted on progress.
