County Commission to Host Former Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Gubernatorial Candidate Delaine Eastin at the March 9, 2017 Meeting.

The County of Sonoma Commission on the Status of Women, a public advisory body that tracks issues which impact women and girls in the county, welcomes Gubernatorial candidate Delaine Eastin to their March 9, 2017 meeting. Ms. Eastin will share her experiences as a woman in leadership and politics, and how her gender may have influenced her path to the race for governor.

Throughout her career, Ms. Eastin has championed education, including advocating for universal preschool and mandatory full-day kindergarten, and serving as the first and only female California Superintendent of Public Instruction. It is Ms. Eastin’s passion for education that prompted the Commission to invite her to speak in March. Members of the public are welcome to attend this dynamic meeting with one of California’s most active public servants.

The meeting will be held in the Permit and Resource Management Department hearing room located at 2550 Ventura Avenue in Santa Rosa, and begins at 6.00pm. Doors will open at 5.30pm and free parking is available.

The Commission on the Status of Women is a public advisory body comprised of up to 15 members appointed by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. The purpose of the Commission is to promote equal rights and opportunities that enhance the quality of life for all women and girls, and to address issues of discrimination and prejudice that negatively affect women in Sonoma County.
