October 25th through 31st is Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Week. This year’s statewide Lead Week message is “Even small amounts of lead can harm a child’s health. Ask your child’s doctor about a blood lead test.” The only way to know if your child has lead poisoning is for your child to get a blood test for lead. For more information on childhood lead poisoning visit https://sonomacounty.ca.gov/Health/Environmental-Health/Healthy-Homes/Childhood-Lead-Poisoning-Prevention/

The Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Branch (CLPPB) has developed a new web page, Resources for Staying Lead-Safe During COVID-19

The page includes resources to help families, schools, and child care providers learn more about lead poisoning, blood lead testing, and how to prevent lead exposure while they are likely spending more time at home during COVID-19. In addition to lead-specific information, the new web page also includes COVID-19-specific resources. The information is from the California Department of Public Health, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and other federal, state, and local health agencies.
