Chanate Property Update

On October 23, 2018, the Board directed staff to dispose of the property as surplus following California Government Code Section 5422, which prescribes the process for disposal of government surplus property.
On December 11, 2018, the Board considered multiple scenarios for disposing of the Chanate Campus and directed staff to consider surplus proposals for two options; the entire campus, or for each of the three bundled properties as depicted. Based upon Board of Supervisors direction, Parcel J, has been excluded from the property sale. The Board authorized the foregoing through the following resolution. On February 11, 2019, the Request for Proposals to purchase the Chanate Campus was published.
- Responses to Questions to Request for Proposals
- The Board established a timeline for receipt of proposals no later than May 10, 2019. Three letters of interest were received.
On June 4, 2019 the Board met in Closed Session to consult staff regarding the proposals, and began discussion and negotiation with the respondents, which will take place over the next 90 days.
