Probation Staff Raised Money to Support Local Breast Cancer Patients

Today, we had the privilege of presenting a donation of $740.00 to Executive Director Kent Corley, from North Bay Cancer Alliance following our Sonoma County Probation Pink Patch fundraiser in October. These funds will go towards NBCA's mission of providing critical financial support to breast cancer patients and their families. Cancer patients receive help with transportation costs, lodging, co-pays, grocery cards, or any other essential needs. Read full story

Probation staff participated in the Trunk-or-Treat Event on Monday, October 21, 2024

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated Trunk-or-Treat with us this year! More than 500 cars and 1,500 trick-or-treaters turned out for this fun drive-thru experience. Probation staff dressed as “Mario Kart” characters who were adored by the community while they enjoyed a safe place to Trick-or-Treat from the trunks of vehicles. Even the Supervised Work Crew dump truck was transformed into the Piranha Plant which the kids loved. Read full story

Sonoma County landlord webinar set for November 19

Sonoma County will host a webinar on Nov. 19 to update landlords about their responsibilities under a new tenant protection ordinance recently adopted by the Board of Supervisors. The online informational session, which will include Spanish interpretation, will feature representatives from the Sonoma County Counsel’s Office. Read full story

Notice of Public Hearing: Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Funding Policies

The Sonoma County Community Development Committee and the Cities and Towns Advisory Committee will hold concurrent public hearings to review proposed revisions to Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Funding Policies for federal funding sources such as the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and Low Moderate Income Housing Asset Fund (LMIHAF) programs. Early in-person voting expands this weekend for November 5 General Election

Early in-person voting for the Nov. 5 General Election will expand this weekend in Sonoma County, Registrar of Voters Deva Marie Proto reminded the public today. Twenty-four vote centers will open Saturday, joining seven that have been open since Saturday, Oct. 26, for a total of 31. Voters can cast their ballots at any Vote Center in the county; they are not assigned to a specific location. Read full story

CalFire to lift burn permit suspension in Sonoma County

The burn permit suspension in Sonoma County will be lifted on Friday, Nov. 1 at 8 a.m., CalFire has announced. The state fire agency is formally canceling the burn suspension in Sonoma, Colusa, Lake, Napa Solano and Yolo counties. Read full story

The Sonoma County Historical Records Commission is now accepting nominations for their 2024 Collections and Archives Recognition Awards. This award recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, groups, agencies, collections and archives located within Sonoma County. Nominees located within the boundaries of Sonoma County and practicing the collection and preservation of historical records for the promotion of history and cultural preservation qualify for the award.
